Michael A. Rauer
Private Schools

Mr. Rauer is a history teacher at Bishop Ireton High School. He began his teaching career in 1993, as a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools and the Catholic Archdiocese of Arlington. Mr. Rauer assumed his current position at Bishop Ireton in 1996. In 2003, he received the teacher of the year award from the World Affairs Council in Washington, D.C., and in 2004, Mr. Rauer was elected as the outstanding educator from the Virginia Governor’s School. From 1972 to 1993, he served in the U.S. Army on active duty as a commissioned officer, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Rauer received a bachelor of arts degree in social studies education from Northeast Louisiana State University in Monroe, La., and a master of education degree in education administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Calif.
