Johnita G. Jackson
St. Mary’s County Public Schools

Mrs. Jackson is an instructional resource teacher at Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School. She began her career in 1967 as a third grade classroom teacher at Westchester Elementary School in Baltimore, Md., where she taught until 1974. From 1975 to 1977 she was a home school teacher. In 1977, she joined St. Mary’s County Public Schools at Leonardtown Middle School as a sixth grade math teacher, where she taught for one year. From 1977 to 1983, she took time off to raise a family. In 1983, she returned to her career in education in St. Mary’s County where she served as a substitute teacher and volunteer for seven years. In 1990, she assumed her present position. Mrs. Jackson received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Frostburg State College in Frostburg, Md.
