Michael F. Ahern
Prince William County Public Schools

Mr. Ahern is a chemistry teacher at Gar-Field High School. He began his teaching career in 1979 at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., as an assistant professor for the department of chemistry and director of senior cadet research. Mr. Ahern remained at West Point for the next three years. From 1988 to 1990, he was staff leader and instructor for the Combined Arms & Services Staff School at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He assumed his current position in 1996. From 1970 to 1996, Mr. Ahern served in the U.S. Army on active duty as a commissioned officer. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a master of science degree in organic chemistry from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa.
