Michael M. Powell
Prince George’s County Public Schools

Mr. Powell is a sixth grade teacher at Patuxent Elementary School. His entire career has taken place in the Prince George’s County Public School system, at Patuxent, where he has worked since 1995. From 1991 to 1995, Mr. Powell served with the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Service as an emergency medical technician. In 2002, he was elected Outstanding Educator by Prince George’s County Public Schools and the Prince George’s County Educators Association. Mr. Powell is the leader of the Patuxent Elementary School Environmental Team guiding staff, students and the community to a greater awareness of environmental issues. He received his bachelor of science degree in science/administration from the University of the District of Columbia and a master in education in curriculum and instruction from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
