Emily Florence
Falls Church City Public Schools

Mrs. Florence, a fourth grade teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, has spent her teaching career in Falls Church City Public School system at Thomas Jefferson since 1976. During her first year as a full-time teacher in 1977, Mrs. Florence helped to launch the first full-day kindergarten program in Falls Church. In addition to teaching, she has been co-chairman of the safety patrol and a textbook selection committee member. She also serves on the school system staff development committee. Mrs. Florence has also consistently worked with children suffering from developmental dysfunctions and has been at the forefront to bring children with special needs into a mainstream classroom setting. She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a master of arts degree in school psychology from Salisbury State in Salisbury, Md.
