Patricia A. Baker
Fauquier County Public Schools

Mrs. Baker is a gifted education teacher at Mary Walter Elementary School. She began her teaching career in 1971, as a first grade teacher for the Red Bank Public School system in New Jersey where she remained for seven years. In 1978, she relocated to Iceland to teach for Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS). During the next three years under DODDS, Mrs. Baker taught first grade and fifth grade at Solars and Kadena Elementary Schools in Misawa and Okinawa, Japan respectively. From 1981 to 1987, she took time off to raise a family and returned to the United States. In 1987, Mrs. Baker taught pre-school at Precious Blood Pre-School in Culpeper, Va. From 1988 to 2000, she taught gifted education for Sycamore Park, Floyd T. Binns and Emerald Hill Elementary Schools all located in Culpeper, Va. In 2000, Mrs. Baker joined the Fauquier County Public School system and assumed her current position. She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Glassboro State Teachers College in Glassboro, New Jersery, and a master of education degree in diverse student populations from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va.
