Joyce Johnson
Fauquier County Public Schools

Mrs. Johnson is a second grade teacher at Coleman Elementary School. She began her teaching career in 1970 at Pearson Elementary School in Catlett, Va., where she taught second and first grades respectively for nine years. In 1979, Mrs. Johnson joined the faculty at Coleman Elementary as a reading lab teacher for third and fourth grades and assumed her current position in 1990. In 2002, she earned the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award. Mrs. Johnson received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., and an M.Ed. degree in curriculum and instruction from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
