Shirley M. Geisbert
St. Mary's County Public Schools

Mrs. Geisbert is a physical education and adapted education teacher at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School. She began her teaching career in 1980 as a physical education and health teacher at Alexandria Middle School in Alexandria, Minn., where she remained for two years. In 1982, Mrs. Geisbert took a four year respite to raise a family. From 1986 to 1988, she was a volleyball and track coach at Lead High School and a second grade teacher at Lead Elementary both located in Lead, S.D. In 1988, Mrs. Geisbert joined the faculty at Benjamin Banneker and assumed her current position. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Geisbert is the head volleyball coach at Leonardtown High School in Leonardtown, Md. She received a B.S. degree in health, physical education and recreation from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., an M.Ed. degree in guidance and counseling from Bowie State University in Bowie, Md., and an M.Ed. degree in special education from Coppin State University in Baltimore, Md.
