Joseph Denton, Jr.
Calvert County Public Schools

Mr. Denton, a social studies teacher at Calvert High School, has spent his entire career with the Calvert County Public School since 1972. In addition to teaching, Mr. Denton has been the social studies department chairperson at Calvert since 1993. He also serves as Chairman of the Social Studies Committee for Middle States Evaluation. Mr. Denton is a member of the Principals Advisory Council and the School Improvement Team and he has coached varsity baseball, cross country, softball, soccer and boys and girls basketball. He has been named Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for softball and cross country as well as Coach of the Year for baseball, basketball, softball and cross country by the Calvert Reporter & Calvert Independent. Mr. Denton received a B.A. degree in history from St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City, Md., and an M.A. degree in education and human development from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
