Supporting education has been a long-standing commitment of
The Washington Post. Every year, the paper recognizes the
contributions and achievements of educators and students
throughout the Washington area. Our Newspaper in Education (NIE)
program reaffirms this commitment by bringing our most important
asset, the newspaper, into hundreds of schools daily throughout
the year. While this program assists teachers in integrating the
newspaper in their curricula and promotes literacy and analytical
skills, at its core is one basic premise. . .it's just plain fun!
The schools are provided with The Post as well as curriculum
guides, classroom exercises and lesson plans developed by
educators. We offer free workshops and on-site training to help
teachers use these materials in unique and exciting ways.
There are sponsorships available to allow schools to join the
program at no cost through our corporate "Partners in Education"
program.
