

Music and Dance Scholarship Awards
Celebrating Academic Achievement & Excellence in the Arts
The Washington Post Music & Dance Scholarship Awards Program were established to:
- Recognize and promote excellence in the academic and artistic abilities of high school seniors in the Washington region
- Encourage youth to continue the pursuit of their artistic and academic goals as they are essential to the development of a well-rounded education and
- Assist youth from the region in obtaining a college education.
The annual Washington Post Music & Dance Scholarship Awards Program produced
by Rickey Payton, Sr., CEO Urban Nation, Inc., pays tribute to outstanding
achievement and promotes excellence in the academic and artistic
abilities of college bound youth from Maryland, The District of Columbia and
Virginia. In ceremonies at the Historic Warner Theatre, students
are awarded ($2,000) scholarships for their extraordinary achievements
in music and dance. These scholarships will be applied toward their
first year of college. This program has a regional focus and the
application and eligibility criteria are attached.
The annual Washington Post Music & Dance Scholarship Awards, brings
together artistic, academic, corporate, media and not-for profit leaders
who believe that investing in education is central to the development,
maintenance and growth of the region's economy. The Washington Post
Music & Dance Scholarship Awards Program brings significant local,
regional and national attention to our region's most important asset,
our youth.
