Susan P. Browning,
Loudoun County Public Schools, is the principal of Seldens Landing Elementary School. Dr. Browning has been an educator for 35 years. Her career began in 1969 as a kindergarten and third grade teacher at Knollwood Elementary School in Parsippany, N.J. She became a learning disability teacher consultant in 1973 for Intervale Elementary School, a position she held for three years. In 1977, she worked as a substitute teacher for Frederick County Public Schools in Maryland and for Winchester City Public Schools in Virginia. She was the program director of migrant education for the Winchester City Public Schools system from 1979 to 1985, winning the outstanding service award in migrant education in 1982. From 1985 to 1988, Dr. Browning was assistant principal at Senseny Road Elementary School, principal at Gainesboro Elementary School, and assistant principal at Indian Hollow Elementary School, all located in Winchester, Va. While at Indian Hollow, she received the educator of the year award. In 1989, she moved to the Loudoun County Public Schools system and served as assistant principal at Rolling Ridge Elementary School in Sterling, Va. In 1990, she was promoted to principal of Sully Elementary School in Sterling, where she remained for five years. In 1995, she accepted the position of school principal at Potowmac Elementary School in Sterling, Va., until 2001 when she assumed her present position. Dr. Browning holds a BA degree in elementary education and an MEd degree in special education from William Patterson College in Wayne, N.J., and an EdD degree in administration from the Virginia Polytechnic University campus in Falls Church, Va.
