John G. Durko,
City of Manassas Public Schools, is the principal of George C. Round Elementary School. Mr. Durko joined the City of Manassas Public Schools in 1987, as assistant principal of George C. Round Elementary School and was promoted to his present position in 1998. He began his career in education in 1976 as a classroom teacher at Sixth Ward Elementary School in Bradford, Pa. From 1977 to 1979, he was principal of Jerome Elementary School in Davidsville, Pa. In 1979, Mr. Durko was principal of Atlasburg and Raccoon Elementary Schools in Burgettstown, Pa., where he remained for three years. From 1982 to 1987, he was principal of Petersburg Elementary School in Petersburg, W. Va. He holds a BS degree in elementary education from California State College in California, Pa., and an MS degree in administration and supervision from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y.
