Larry W. Cassell,
Frederick County Public Schools, is the principal of Ballenger Creek Elementary School. He began his career in education in 1969 as a classroom teacher at Urbana Elementary School in Urbana, Md., where he remained for three years. From 1972 to 1974, Mr. Cassell taught fifth and sixth grade at Myersville Elementary School in Myersville, Md. In 1974, he became assistant principal of Thurmont Middle School in Thurmont, Md., where he remained for four years. In 1978, Mr. Cassell became the principal of Wolfsville Elementary School in Wolfsville, Md., and in 1980 he became principal of Waverly Elementary School in Frederick, Md., a position he held for three years. From 1983 to 1986, Mr. Cassell was principal of Middletown Middle School in Middletown, Md. In 1986, he was principal of Walkersville Elementary School in Walkersville, Md., until he assumed his current position in 1990. Mr. Cassell holds a BS degree in elementary education from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Md., and an MEd degree in curriculum and supervision from Shippensburg State University in Shippensburg, Pa.
