Cathy L. Wiggins,
St. Mary's County Public Schools, is principal of Margaret Brent Middle School. In 1976, Mrs. Wiggins began her career in education as a Spanish, social studies and reading teacher at Rundell Junior High School in Jonesboro, La. From 1979 to 1985, she continued as a Spanish, social studies and reading teacher at Wossman High School in Monroe, La. In 1985, Mrs. Wiggins became a guidance counselor at Wossman where she remained for four years. From 1989 to 1994, she moved to Maryland and joined St. Mary's County Public Schools as a guidance chairperson at Great Mills High School in Great Mills, Md. In 1994, in addition to teaching, Mrs. Wiggins was promoted to assistant principal at Margaret Brent, becoming a full time assistant principal in 1996. From 1997, she returned to Great Mills as assistant principal until she assumed her present position in 1999. Mrs. Wiggins holds a BEd degree in Spanish education and MA degrees in Social Studies Education and Secondary Counseling from Louisiana Tech University in Rustin, La.
