R. Scott Pfeifer,
Howard County Public Schools, is the principal of River Hill High School. Mr. Pfeifer began his career in education in 1974, when he joined Howard County Public Schools as a science teacher at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, Md. From 1977 to 1980, he was the science department head at Hammond High School in Columbia, Md. In 1980, Mr. Pfeifer was promoted to assistant principal at Hammond where he remained for three years. In 1983 he took a respite from his career in education to work on his doctoral candidacy at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif. In 1986, Mr. Pfeifer was assistant principal at Atholton High School in Columbia, Md. and was promoted to principal in 1988. In 1994, he became a principal on special assignment for Howard County Public Schools until assuming his present position in 1995. Mr. Pfeifer holds a BA degree in biology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., and an MEd degree in educational administration from Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
