Carolyn M. Kimberlin,
Frederick County Public Schools, is the principal of New Market Middle School. Mrs. Kimberlin began her career in education in 1969, as a reading specialist and a language arts coordinator that traveled to various schools in the Greater Latrobe School District in Latrobe, Pa. In 1974, she was a consultant for "Right to Read" and traveled to various schools in the Washington School District in Washington, Pa. From 1975 to 1979, Mrs. Kimberlin took a respite from teaching to raise a family. She returned to her career in education in 1979 as a reading clinic supervisor at Hood College in Frederick, Md. After a year, Mrs. Kimberlin joined Frederick County Public Schools and became an classroom teacher at Valley Elementary School in Jefferson, Md., where she remained for four years. From 1984 to 1985, she was a reading specialist at Brunswick Elementary School in Brunswick, Md. Mrs. Kimberlin was promoted in 1985 to assistant principal of Walkersville Elementary School in Walkersville, Md., where she remained for two years. In 1987, she was promoted to principal of Governor Thomas Johnson Middle School in Frederick, Md., where she remained until 2001 when she assumed her present position. Mrs. Kimberlin holds a BS degree in elementary education from California University of Pennsylvania in California, Pa., and an MA degree as a reading specialist from West Virginia University in Morgantown, W. Va.
